Democracy Sierra Leone - DSL, a coalition of over forty Civil Societies is a local initiative working towards expanding democratic values including respect for human rights, public accountability and rule of law. Democracy Sierra Leone was born out of the toast masters held at National Democratic Institute (NDI) every Wednesday. There we met to develop our public speaking skills. Out of those speeches, the need to set up an advocacy unit was realized.

Democracy Sierra Leone (DSL) a local initiative; was established in January 2007 as a coalition civil societies – with the aim of expanding democratic values and citizenship, including respect for human rights, public accountability and the rule of law.
We in our little ways have changed the course of Sierra Leone for a
better country by promoting Democracy, Good governance, Love and Change
of Attitude, we have also helped in minimizing the Corruption rate in
Sierra Leone.
